LIST OF 3!!!

Updated: Dec 14, 2020

Here it is, the way to build the life you want.....no more...no less!

It seems as if society as a whole, most humans certainly, are running around in their lives completely stressed, over worked, with not enough time or energy to “do” everything they believe they need to accomplish in a day. I can’t think of anything, any area of life, that isn’t over “something-ed”. I see and hear it constantly. Whether it is technology or food or fashion or lifestyle or pressure to achieve or own or buy, everything is so ….. much! And we consider it living a good life!

For me, the world became too big and too complicated. We no longer live small simple lives. It is not cool or accepted or normal. Instead, we are told to do more, buy more, own more, watch more, social media more, tweet more (no clue!), get more likes/ followers/ subscribers, have more sponsors and more pop-ups (more distractions really), exercise more and harder / faster / longer / newer / better and pretty much “up” everything! S-T-R-E-S-S-F-U-L!! I fall victim to this idea of complicated equals better, too.

And as I pay attention and listen to the rumblings of so many people sensing things are not quite right, asking themselves how they might get off the rat wheel they find themselves on each day, I offer this idea of Living Simply. The tools are simple, poignant, and necessary in order to find and maintain a balanced, healthy, sustainable, joyous life wherever you are!

The List of Three!

Instructions: the best way to do this very short, simple (hopefully life-changing) worksheet is to find a quiet space, turn everything off, tune in to you and the quiet around you, and notice the life sounds that exist beyond the phones and televisions and music and distractions and chatter of your everyday life and tune into the river of sound beneath. Perhaps you can hear birds or cars going by or water or wind or a creaky floor or a neighbor’s lawn mower or your own breath! Listen, practice tuning in, slowing down, being still, sitting in the quiet, and just being. From this point, begin the exercise.

Step 1:

List your Three Life Priorities, only 3, with yourself already counted.

1. _________________________________________________________

2. _________________________________________________________

3. _________________________________________________________

That’s it! That is all you get! Living Simply means cutting out what is not important to allow for those things that are important to take their proper place in your life (feel free to re-do the list!).

1. _________________________________________________________

2. _________________________________________________________

3. _________________________________________________________

Step 2:

Under each number on your List of Three you may choose to list 2 focus points, not all will have one, but you can only put 2! For example, my business Living Simply has 2 focus points: Living Simply Coaching & Consultation and my Websites.

1. _________________________________________________________

A. ________________________________________________

B. ________________________________________________

2. _________________________________________________________

A. ________________________________________________

B. ________________________________________________

3. _________________________________________________________

A. ________________________________________________

B. ________________________________________________

If you filled all of it in, you essentially have 9 things plus yourself that are your life priorities. That is a lot! How does the list feel? How do you feel when you read it or look at it or imagine actually having to do all of it each and every day? When I did mine the first time, I became irritated and felt stressed and tired just reading it so I re-did it…. and re-did it … and finally removed some of the subcategories deciding they could rotate in if/when something else was off the list. Now my list is realistic, manageable, helpful and I don’t feel overwhelmed with my life or my goals! This is the point of the list. To help you look at all you believe to be important in order to find your way to simplicity! Your list will provide you with a visual written guide of how you want your Simple Life to look!
