Simple Living. It is hard to escape seeing or hearing this popularized phrase nowadays from magazine articles to wall décor it seems to be everywhere. For me, the mere mention of this phrase conjures images of tiny homes, RV’s, and homesteading, or maybe living in the woods or on the lake or just retiring. My long held idea is that simplifying means I sell all my stuff, move out of my house, buy a tiny home or camper (which I would truly love to do!) and set off with my daughter to discover and experience the world. It feels like the right definition of “simple living”. However, for a lot of us, myself included, it is simply not possible to make such a dramatic lifestyle change in order to live simply. And yet I crave simplification: an easier, peaceful, stress-free life off this roller coaster we’ve all been told we are supposed to be on and into a life full of living in the now, enjoying every moment and relishing this life full of wonder each and every day! But how? How do we pursue simplicity in this modern hectic world? Is it even possible?
What I have found is that simple living, well simple, balanced, healthy, sustainable living, is a state of mind, a value. If you can create a mind of simplicity it will guide your everyday choices and result in simple living….balanced living…healthy living…sustainable living….anywhere, including a 1500 sq. ft. home! It is a stepping away from mainstream beliefs of more is better, bigger is better, and the pursuit of such things is priority. Instead, it slows down, calms, and creates less, ensuring that life stays simple and peaceful. It reverts back to thinking local, small, simple, easy, quiet, meaningful, manageable and reconnecting to self and Mother Earth.
So what does it look like, living simply, thinking simply? Well, that is exactly what we are here to discuss…simple, balanced, healthy, sustainable, living! I am excited to share my insights, methods, and ideas (and some personal experiences, too) so read on and keep coming back for more! I look forward to our time together! Namaste.
