Otherwise known as getting back to basics!
I stood in my sun room this morning watching the trees behind my house. The wind was really strong and loud and the tops of the trees were bending and arching dramatically back and forth. It was really tearing around out there and those trees sure looked like they were feeling the brunt of the wild wind. Some looked like they might even break off or uproot. Until you looked down. When you followed the trunks down to the Earth below, you could see quite beautifully the trees were fully grounded, not moving and not swayed by the craziness above! I watched for awhile and took it as a wonderful symbol and sign of this exact moment. The world may be going a bit crazy up or out there, but if you, like the tree stay grounded in what is real, what matters, what life is truly about, you won't notice the craziness above!
It is easy in the world right now amidst this Coronavirus moment to feel a little afraid, uncertain, even fearful of what is going on or what is going to happen. It can be easy to flip into a fear based thought process especially if you have more questions than answers and no "how-to" manual for the current circumstances. Every where you turn you can see, read, or hear one more negative fear based statement after another. It does become quite unsettling!
But for just a moment let's look at it differently with new eyes and some new possibilities. Let's have a positive, constructive, non-limiting, conversation that I hope will resonate with you. You see, for me and many others that have already shifted out of mainstream values, thoughts and ideas and into a slowed-down, simplified, Earth-friendly, spiritually aware life this moment is about re-balancing. A wake up call to everyone else to get back to the life we were all meant to be living and pursuing and NOT continuing on that rat wheel any longer!
So, we have all been given more time, forced to stop and slow down, to be reminded of what is really important because that is all that is left! So now we get outside and appreciate all that the Earth has to offer. We are not driving around in our gas guzzling cars. We are perhaps not working at that job that used to come first. We are not in school, we are not spending our money as easily or shopping as much, perhaps even thinking twice before we spend! Maybe we are even learning to value things differently. We have more time to spend with friends and family and ourselves. We have slowed down, taking the time to just be or maybe read or cook actual meals or play games or do puzzles or take a walk and finally, pay attention to the beautiful world we are living in! Now, we are finally living in the moment, seeing the fruits of our labor and hopefully understanding what is important when what was, is no longer important.
Hopefully, we can keep this re-balancing that was so desperately needed for no matter how many times it has been said, or how many calls to change there have been, we continue blindly racing down the path of consumerism, materialism, growth and greed at the expense of everything, destruction of our planet, and destruction of ourselves.
I see this moment as the Earth and Universe's way of re-balancing our world. A new change. New routines. New habits. New thoughts. New ideas. New values. New priorities. New voices. A re-NEW-ed life. Hopefully, we will all make choices that support a Simple, Balanced, Healthy, Sustainable way of living!
