Health &Wellness isn't a final goal....it is journey, a way of life!

Welcome!  So, is it really possible to find a balanced, joyous, and simple way to health and fitness??  I know it sounds too good to be true, especially in a very confusing and conflicting world surrounding nutrition, diet, exercise, body image, food, herbs, vitamins, supplements, and overall lifestyle choices, but yes, it is possible..... if you keep it simple!  Integrative Nutrition is a simple approach to your personalized, bio-individualized health and wellness that takes into account your whole life.  It respects and acknowledges all the areas of your life that contribute to your personal health and wellness.  This is why I find an integrated bio-individualized approach to nutrition to be the first step to achieving a simple, healthy natural life.

Now, most of us think immediately of health and fitness as our body weight, but notice, nothing was mentioned about size or weight yet because each of our bodies have their own personal homeostasis, or place of balance, which is different from any other.  Being healthy, achieving a healthy lifestyle, is integrative and holistic, NOT about what size you wear or the color of your hair, or what your body shape is right now.  Instead, it is about creating an individualized integrative healthy lifestyle plan that is life long, "wholisitic" and balanced.  Health & Wellness is a process, a true learning experience and life long journey!

Let's be honest, a healthy body comes second only to a healthy mind and is incredibly important because our health and how we feel each and every day, and what you literally feed yourself, directly impacts everything else in your life. How?  Well, if you're unhealthy or in pain or constantly sidetracked by health issues, you simply can not begin the process of change or living simply or feeling happiness at all.  Instead, you are distracted by your health mentally, physically, and emotionally.

So, what can you do? Is there an easy answer? Yes and no.  First, remember it is a lifelong journey as our bodies will be changing forever.  We need to first take back our power and learn to listen to our own bodies in order to be able to be self aware and self heal.  From there: K.I.S.S!! Keep it simple sweetie:  you are what you eat, literally, so eat healthy!  Think back to the last 48 hours of what you consumed  and answer, what are you made of today?  Donuts?  Soda? Caffeine? Fast food?  Packaged processed dinners straight from a box??  Or are you fruits, grains, vegetables, whole foods, and pure water?  Did you actually feed and fuel your body today so it could do all of the amazing things it had to do?  Or did you cheat yourself and shortcut your eating with  unhealthy food choices?  It is all in your hands....literally, and the good news is that you can choose what you eat & drink every single day. 

 

Going back to the basics of simple & natural eating is an easy & healthy way to fuel your body.  Not so long ago, we all hunted for our own food eating fresh local seasonal meat/protein, grew what we needed in gardens without pesticides, local & seasonal, canning or preserving the extras for winter, ate full balanced meals, cooked together and from scratch (no boxes or packaged goods here), baked our own breads & desserts, and had limited to no access to sweets and/or sugars.  There were no supermarkets full of non-food items or fast food "restaurants" full of garbage.  Eating was a family activity, slow & meaningful, full of conversation, mindful, in order to fuel your body, mind & soul for the days work and cooking was done together with what was found within 100 feet of where you lived!  These simple natural ideas still stand as great examples of how we can, in our hectic modern world, remember a more simple natural way to obtain our food, cook in a healthy way, eat mindfully and live a healthy well life!

 

Remember:  It is not complicated!  YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT....AND DRINK!!  So keep it simple!  Below is a simple guideline for you to start with and learn and expand from there. 

 

EAT: Seasonal Whole Foods that you don't unwrap and are not shipped to you from half a world away; Organic as much as possible because more unwanted chemicals and toxins in your body suck and contribute to dis-ease, Plant Based as much as possible because we now know how important this is for our bodies and the Earth; Pure Water because we need hydration at the cellular level and most of our drinking water is polluted or packaged in plastic bottles which pollute us with chemicals and the Earth with more plastic.

And in case it bears saying, you should remove completely from your diet or, as much as humanly possible avoid the following;  Sugars, which I don't think at this day and age I even have to explain but do remember those sneaky ones that end in -ose like sucrose and maltodextrose and glucose; Toxins, to include alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine, sodas (really in the sugar category but thought I would mention it by name here), added preservatives, salts, colors & stabilizers in most products on the shelf; Fried Foods/ Packaged Products, their name says it all and no matter how pretty the packaging or promise of "healthy" the best food you will eat is that which you prepare and cook; Fad Diets, all those "fad diets" are fads for a reason.....they don't work and they feed on your desire for a quick fix (there isn't one) easy way (change isn't easy) to look (wrong priority) a certain way.  Healthy isn't a look, or a body type, or a fad diet, or a quick fix.  It is a new way of thinking about who you are as a body and what you put into it in order to live!  As the saying goes, you wouldn't put sugar in your gas tank and think your car will run......why do humans put McDonalds garbage product (it's NOT food!) into their bodies and believe they will be healthy?  Garbage in.....garbage out in the form of unhealthy, obese, immuno-compromised, dis-eased human bodies. 

​

Simple Healthy Eating = clean, organic, toxin free, seasonal whole foods that you purchase and prepare at home!  It's kinder, better and healthier for your body, your pocketbook, and the Earth...and it contains delicious, nutritious, actual food!
